The story

About Project Paws

Project Paws began as an idea during Grade 9 in 2022. What started as an interest in helping stray animals gradually developed into a more structured understanding of animal welfare, community participation and responsible action.

After spending 2023 researching the issue and exploring ways to contribute, Bhavya began putting Project Paws into action in 2024. The initiative continued through 2025 and into 2026, during her gap year.

Her involvement has included supporting animal care, assisting with treatment and rescue-related activities, contributing to awareness and fundraising efforts, and participating in community-based animal welfare work.

In Bhavya’s words

Why I Started

“I gradually began asking a more important question: how could I move from simply noticing the problem to actually making a difference?”

Working directly around animals changed my understanding of animal welfare. I learned that helping is not limited to feeding. It can involve treatment support, rescue, rehabilitation, awareness, fundraising, coordination and consistent care.

About me

Bhavya
Gupta

Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, CBSE

I am a student who began exploring animal welfare as a personal interest during Grade 9. Over time, that interest developed into Project Paws, an independent student-led initiative that I have developed through my own interest, learning and continued action.

From researching the issue to participating in real-world activities, the experience has helped me understand the responsibilities involved in community-based animal welfare. I am currently taking a gap year and continuing to develop my social impact work while reflecting on what I have learned.

Continuing the journey

Still Learning.
Still Helping. Still Growing.

Project Paws is an ongoing journey rather than a completed project. Every experience adds a new layer of understanding—from direct animal care to community participation and responsible action.
